I put the handout with writing prompt suggestions for the writer's notebook on the "Writing" page of this website. It is in the list of files and is titled "Keeping a Writer's Notebook."
Remember that you can write about anything in your writer's notebook. The goal is quantity and regularity. Set aside a definite time for yourself each day or every couple of days to write for at least 10-15 minutes (if you do more, great!). The more you write, the better writer you will become in the long term.
Also, you should be reading your independent books. You don't have to take any notes or anything, but if you want to write about your book you can (these can serve as writer's notebook entries, as long as your book isn't the only thing you write about).
I'm very happy with how the class is going so far, and I hope you are, too!
